Why Mindset Matters: Your Pheromones Bark Louder Than Words

Training your dog isn't just about commands—it’s about connection. Dogs have a PAWSome ability to read human emotions through body language and even pheromones (yes, they can literally smell your stress!). Dogs are emotional sponges, soaking up our moods like a biscuit in gravy. When you’re stressed, anxious, or frustrated, your body releases pheromones that signal distress. Guess who picks up on that? Your dog!
Imagine trying to teach “stay” while you’re radiating impatience. Your pup isn't ignoring you—they're reacting to your energy. Dogs communicate through body language, scent, and tone more than actual words. A calm, confident mindset tells your dog, “I got this,” which helps them focus and learn.

So, before training, take a deep breath. Reset your mind. If you’re having a ruff day, consider a walk or a play session. A happy human makes for a happy, receptive pup. After all, if you believe in the training, your dog will too! If you’re frustrated, your pup picks up on it, and suddenly, sit-stays become sit-NO-ways. Staying calm, confident, and pawsitive helps set your dog up for success. Next time you train, take a deep breath, loosen that leash grip, and be the zen furrent your pup needs.
