Peaceful Integration

We will build a pack of well-balanced companions to integrate your puppy under 6 months old or your dog over 6 months old.

Puppies: Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings 7:30am-12:00pm

Dogs over 6 months old: Tuesday or Thurday 12:30pm-5:00pm

Basic Obedience

In our Basic Obedience course, you will learn how to train your dog on important vocal commands such as Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Watch Me, Leave It, and Loose Lead Walking. We believe in practical training, so we use real-life scenarios to assess the skills you and your dog have learned. This assessment, called "Town Training," takes place in the dog-friendly Downtown Grass Valley area. Successfully completing this course will prepare you and your dog for the AKC Canine Good Citizenship test.

 THE FACILITY

Located conveniently off Rough and Ready Highway in Grass Valley, California, PAWS'itive Pals Dog Training is your premier local dog training facility dedicated to enhancing the lives of your furry friends. Our state-of-the-art center is equipped with enhanced security and safety features, ensuring the utmost well-being of the #PalPack. We proudly offer a wide range of services in Grass Valley, CA, including puppy training, obedience classes, behavioral consultations, agility training, and private sessions, all tailored to meet the unique needs of each dog and their owner.

  • The facility is surrounded by 6-foot perimeter fencing for added protection. Additionally, there is double fencing inside, with 5-foot cemented security fencing to create separate training areas and ensure the safety of the dogs.

    The facility has double gates with long entry runs for convenient and secure entry and exit.

  • The facility utilizes battery-backed up solar power to ensure consistent heating and air conditioning. Smart technology activates thermostat settings for optimal comfort.

  • Introduction: The following evacuation plan is designed to ensure the safety and well-being of all canine guests and staff members at PAWS'itive Pals Dog Training facility; found at 11101 Rough and Ready Hwy., Grass Valley, CA 95945. In the event of an Emergency Weather and Fire Evacuation, the PAWS’itive Pals Dog Training Team members will contact all owners of dogs in our care and do our best to reunite patrons and pets, if possible, consciousness of ability without adding to congested community evacuation routes or impeding emergency personnel. 

    Regular Evacuation Drills: At PAWS’itive Pals Dog Training, drills are practiced on Daylight Savings Time to familiarize and practice procedures with all staff members. New hires are trained upon joining the team. By consistently practicing these procedures, PAWS'itive Pals ensures a prepared and safety-conscious staff at all times. 

    Emergency Contacts: PAWS’itive Pals Dog Training keeps an updated list of emergency contacts, including the Nevada County Sheriff's Office Animal Control, local fire department, veterinary clinics, and nearby animal shelters. These contacts are saved on all staff members' phones and stored as emergency contacts on the company portal. 

    Facility Assessment: PAWS’itive Pals Dog Training conducts semi-annual thorough assessments of the facility to find and address potential fire hazards and ensure the availability and accessibility of fire safety equipment. 

    Fire Extinguishers: Fire extinguishers are readily available, clearly labeled, regularly kept, and easily accessible in both the Gazebo and Kitchen areas. Staff members are equipped with emergency medical kits, roadside kits, and fire extinguishers for immediate use during emergencies. 

    Staff Training: All staff members undergo training in emergency and safety protocols and are assigned specific roles during an evacuation. The following duties are assigned to individual team members: 

    1. Gathering and Loading of Crates: Responsible for gathering, setting up, and loading crates into trailers and covered trucks for safe animal transportation. 

    2. Packing Water Supplies: Gather and pack water for animals and personnel. Each PAWdock has an adequate water supply for three days per guest, and 2–5-gallon potable water supplies are filled and packed. 

    3. Gathering Facility Foods: Gather essential food supplies for animals at the facility. All guests with specific dietary needs should have their food stored in 5-gallon or 2-gallon bins in the kitchen. 

    4. Opening Friendly Neighbor Gates and Assisting Wildlife: Open gates to neighboring properties to ease access for fire personnel and aid escape routes for wildlife from surrounding areas. 

    5. Gathering and Packing of Needed Training Tools: Personal Dog Equipment, Medical Prescriptions, First Aid, Food Dishes, and Water Troughs.  

    6. Turning Off Utilities and Facility Protection: Shut off utilities, gas, and electricity to minimize hazards. If time allows and it is safe, turn on perimeter sprinklers. If time allows, shutter windows, air conditioning, air ducts, and dog doors. 

     

    Evacuation Routes and Assembly Points: Designated Assembly Point: Field 3 within the facility premises, away from Rough and Ready Hwy. 

    Primary Evacuation Point: Twin Cities Church parking lot near the facility. 

    Secondary Evacuation Route: Private ranch in Marysville. Route: Rough and Ready Hwy to Hwy 20 West. 

    Alternate Evacuation Point: Family timeshare in Truckee. Route: Rough and Ready Hwy to North on Ridge Road, to Hwy 20 North, to Hwy 80 North. 

     

    Animal Handling and Containment: Proper animal handling and containment measures will be in place: 

    - Ensure there is sufficient space prior to an emergency and crates available for safe transfer of animals. 

    - The maximum capacity should be 16 dogs (subject to adjustments based on specific behavioral needs). 

    - Adequate crates are readily available in front of the units during fire season and storage in the winter. There are enough crates for both guests and staff's personal pets. There is enough passenger space in staff, facility vehicles, and trailers. 

    Animal Records: Comprehensive animal records are kept through the staff app portal. These records include owner details, emergency contacts, vaccination records, licensing information, consent to treat, current images, and detailed breed/color descriptions. 

    Evacuation Procedures: If a fire emergency occurs, follow these evacuation procedures: 

    1. Sound the alarm using blink notification alarms.  

    2. Call emergency services and provide accurate information. 

    3. Calmly and swiftly evacuate all animals, following predetermined routes. 

    4. Assemble at the designated point and account for all animals and personnel. 

    5. Check each dog for proper identification tags, place a PAWS'itive Pals Dog Training reflective LED collar and lead on all dogs. 

     Communication and Updates: 

    - Establish and use a group chat through the company portal for easy communication among staff members and guest owners. Reach out to each owner specifically by text and share the link of the group chat. The portal will minimize network congestion of the cell towers. 

    - Regularly supply updates and instructions through the group chat. 

    Drills and Practice: Semi-annually conduct fire evacuation drills to ensure staff members are familiar with the procedures and to identify areas for improvement.
